THE ONLY WESTERN THEMED 5K IN THE 'WILD WEST' ON FB!

3:10 to St Ives

SATURDAY 27TH MAY 2017 @ 3.10PM

'3:10 to Yuma' is arguably one of the defining 50's Westerns that's well known by movie buffs everywhere.

'3:10 to Yuma' is a 1957 American Western starring Glenn Ford and Van Heflin and directed by Delmer Daves. The film was based on a 1953 short story by Elmore Leonard. The film is about a drought-impoverished rancher who takes on the risky job of taking a notorious outlaw to justice via the 3:10 train to Yuma...
As a complete Western movie nut (I'm currently listening to The Magnificent Seven whilst typing), I came up with the idea of using The South West Coast Path for something very quirky.
To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the movie you are all invited to take part in the '3:10 to St Ives'.
3:10 BEING THE 5K DISTANCE(HOW COOL IS THAT?! YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE?)
The only coastal 5k within Cornwall in the calender running year!!!
The event starts from St Uny Church at Lelant and follows Britain's most beautiful branch line from Lelant into the very heart of St Ives( Britain's No.2 destination at New Year's and the most famous seaside resort in the country)
An afternoon race in hopefully late spring sunshine( Not guaranteed of course) following the trains in and out of St Ives, Carbis Bay and Lelant.
Descend upon the glorious dunes of the North Coast of Cornwall to 'track' the line in all its beauty over bridges, steps and minor climbs with St Ives and The Island in clear view constantly. You'll pass through Hawk's Point which gives you an uncompromising and sheer honest view of the wonderful coves of Carbis Bay and St Ives.
The incredible finish will be near to St Ives Train Station making for an easy journey back on the train to Lelant back to your cars.
