3:10 to St Ives: NUMERO TRES

SATURDAY 4TH MAY 2019 @ 3.10PM

'3:10 to Yuma' is arguably one of the defining 50's Westerns that's well known by movie buffs everywhere.

'3:10 to Yuma' is a 1957 American Western starring Glenn Ford and Van Heflin and directed by Delmer Daves. The film was based on a 1953 short story by Elmore Leonard. The film is about a drought-impoverished rancher who takes on the risky job of taking a notorious outlaw to justice via the 3:10 train to Yuma...
As a complete Western movie nut (I'm currently listening to The Magnificent Seven whilst typing), I came up with the idea of using The South West Coast Path for something very quirky.
3:10 BEING THE 5K DISTANCE(HOW COOL IS THAT?! YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE?)
WHETHER YOU'RE A COUCH TO 5K OR EXPERIENCED ULTRA-ATHLETE THIS RACE HAS SOMETHING FOR YOU...
The event starts from Dynamite Quay, Lelant, overlooking Hayle Bar and follows one of Eurpoe's most prepossessing branch lines into St Ives, drifting along the South West Coast Path and following this historical rail connection until the end.
You'll ascend up dunes from a beach start to 'track' the line in all its beauty over bridges, steps and wooded trail. You'll pass Hawk's Point which gives an incomparable gaze at the coves of the St Ives Bay coastline and beyond.
The 5k finishes below St Ives station making for an epic journey back on the tracks to where it all began.
