BYS VYKEN RACE TEAM RESULTS & INFO*(2019 - PRESENT)*

Our Race Team athletes in action...

We are 'Bys Vyken Race Team' . We are a friendly team and not a 'club' with training sessions and socials every single week. We run both trails and roads and represent the colours of St Piran at events and races all over no matter the distance.

We are a small group of individuals who believe that politics should be a thing of the past. Our team is exactly that; OURS! In order to keep the usual clique-like and political habits away from our team we are selective in our invitation. You don't have to be fast to run with us. You just need to posses the qualities of amazing human beings and have inspiring ways within you. This team was set up to get us all away from the usual club nonsense and by having open memberships it would tarnish the integrity of the system we have that works and my number one priority is to protect the members of this team and their own integrity also.

We are ARC affiliated only and Bys Vyken Events & Cornish Trails is an associate member of the ARC(association of running clubs) too. This means members will only be able to run with us as 2nd claim for the time being. But this means we have more freedom within to be able to enjoy the trails we take for granted and to also enjoy spending time training together in the knowledge that we have a sound and friendly atmosphere in our like minded group. Save the politics for Brexit negotiators. As a Cornishman, I'm still waiting to leave Britain!

Whether you're a beginner or experienced we don't ever look at that when inviting you to join. We have no preference of capabilities. We welcome all to our friendly and crazy little team from Kernow.

(ALL TEAM RESULTS WILL APPEAR ON THE WEBSITE AS AND WHEN THEY ARE ACHEIVED AND UPLOADED)

BYS VYKEN EVENTS RACE TEAM IS A FIRST CLAIM CLUB AT ALL ASSOCIATION OF RUNNING CLUBS ASSOCIATED EVENTS & RACES ONLY. OUR 'ARC' MEMBERSHIP NUMBER IS 493. DETAILS OF THIS CAN BE FOUND AT WWW.RUNNINGCLUBS.ORG.UK

"Bys Vyken Events race, the 3rd ‘Smuggler’s Scuttler’ pirate and smuggling half marathon from Land’s End to the top of Cape Cornwall and back again was held on Saturday with 147 athletes completing the challenging coast path route.

The race starts at Peal Point at Land’s End (South of the signpost and next to the First and Last House in England). The event goes past the Mayon watchtower upon the National Trust’s well kept Mayon Cliff passing the home of the RMS Mulheim shipwreck. Runners crossed Sennen Cove and through two car parks and then into the sandy and lumpy dunes and then on to the technical Gwynver and its beach. The half marathon continued out with the half way turn point at Cape Cornwall where the Pirate King waited with his booty. The early mist cleared to give runners a warm and sunny run back and times were swift. First man in was Peter Belcher Exmouth Harriers in 1.55.58 and first lady was Joanne Page Okehampton in 2.14.23 . Bys Vyken race team were well represented with Martin Penny 14th, Steve Randall 29th , Melissa Poultney with a great run and pb 2.45.41, Mark and Charmaine Williams, Geno Crawford, Chris Willets, and Catherine Rhodes escaping the Pirate King (Keith Hill) and returning to Lands End happy and safe. Bys Vyken race team members Chris Willets, Yvonne Trudgeon and Jackie Morse joined the field of 309 runners and finished with smiles and some of them had dry feet!"
