BYS VYKEN RACE TEAM RESULTS & INFO (2020)

BY INVITE ONLY

OUR ATHLETES IN ACTION

We are 'Bys Vyken Race Team' . We are a friendly team and not a 'club' with training sessions and socials every single week. We run both trails and roads and represent the colours of St Piran at events and races all over no matter the distance.

We are a small group of individuals who believe that politics should be a thing of the past. Our team is exactly that; OURS! In order to keep the usual clique-like and political habits away from our team we are selective in our invitation. You don't have to be fast to run with us. You just need to posses the qualities of amazing human beings and have inspiring ways within you. This team was set up to get us all away from the usual club nonsense and by having open memberships it would tarnish the integrity of the system we have that works and my number one priority is to protect the members of this team and their own integrity also.

We are ARC affiliated only and Bys Vyken Events & Cornish Trails is an associate member of the ARC(association of running clubs) too. This means members will only be able to run with us as 2nd claim for the time being. But this means we have more freedom within to be able to enjoy the trails we take for granted and to also enjoy spending time training together in the knowledge that we have a sound and friendly atmosphere in our like minded group.

Whether you're a beginner or experienced we don't ever look at that when inviting you to join. We have no preference of capabilities. We welcome all to our friendly and crazy little team from Kernow.

(ALL TEAM RESULTS WILL APPEAR ON THE WEBSITE AS AND WHEN THEY ARE ACHEIVED AND UPLOADED)

BYS VYKEN EVENTS RACE TEAM IS A FIRST CLAIM CLUB AT ALL ASSOCIATION OF RUNNING CLUBS ASSOCIATED EVENTS & RACES ONLY. OUR 'ARC' MEMBERSHIP NUMBER IS 493. DETAILS OF THIS CAN BE FOUND AT WWW.RUNNINGCLUBS.ORG.UK

PRESS REPORT BY JACKIE MORSE:
The first weekend in February was a busy time for runners and for the serious endurance athletes it meant the epic event over 100 miles , The Arc of Attrition. This iconic challenge  by Mudcrew with the support of the running family is a point-to-point extreme coastal race from Coverack to Porthtowan taking in 100 miles of stunning and dramatic Cornish coast path with competitors running in challenging winter conditions. Runners will complete an Arc around the entire south west foot of Cornwall.  The race has a strict 36 hour cut-off with additional checkpoint and safety cut-offs on route. With checkpoints approximately 20 miles apart, competitors need the ability to be self-sufficient for long periods of time. Many have tried and been beaten by the challenge and with a drop out rate beyond others, completion takes hours of training and mental and physical strength. Bys Vyken Team member Helen Davies came back this year to finish what she started last year and has the coveted buckle to add to her collection. Helen finished in 32:56:06. and was 6
th lady overall . Helen says that the coast path was the toughest seen with the relentless rain this winter and underfoot the conditions were slippery with treacherous. Further afield Matt Foley completed the Bohemian Marathon in Lee Valley in 3:57:25 and David Andrewartha traversed cliffs coves and coast line in Dorset in the Portand Marathon finishing in 4:27. In Newquay the popular 10k with nearly 800 runners was the race for team members Nicky Morse, Yvonne Trudgeon , Jackie Morse and Helen Williams.
